Louise
Co-founder - Clinical Psychologist
Louise has worked as a Clinical Psychologist within the NHS for over 25 years and has spent more than 10 years working with people in private practice. Louise specialises in working with people who have experienced trauma, struggle with intense emotions, or are living with complex emotional needs. Louise is also experienced in working with individuals with neurodiversity and adapts her approach as needed.
Louise doesn’t believe people are ‘broken. She believes in ‘Kintsugi’- the ancient Japanese art which repairs broken pottery with gold or silver, transforming the original object into something greater than it was before.
Louise believes our emotions, behaviours and ways of coping make sense in the context of what we’ve experienced. Together, you’ll work to understand those patterns with curiosity and compassion, while building the skills and confidence to move towards the life you want.
Everyone’s story is unique, so Louise draws on a range of evidence-based therapies, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Compassion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and
Emma
Co-founder - UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist
Emma has 15 years-experience in the NHS, specialising in complex emotional needs and setting up trauma informed services across London trusts. Emma sees all problematic patterns and behaviours as adaptive responses to our environment as learnt ways of coping and protective strategies. She leads with Louise in the practice and takes on more of the operational bits to keep things running smoothly.
Emma’s approach integrates a range of approaches to offer a truly holistic approach to her clients, this includes but isn’t limited to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT) alongside more traditional psychotherapy approaches. In her spare time you can find Emma on some sort of outdoor pursuit whether that’s running, cycling, in a CrossFit gym or wakeboarding.
Emma is a UKCP accredited psychotherapist, holds accredited status as a DBT therapist with SfDBT and still maintains her NMC registration as a mental health nurse.
Jemma
DBT therapist
Jemma is an experienced mental health nurse with over 20 years’ years experience in leading NHS services. She has over 15 years experience as a DBT therapist and working with people who struggle with self-destructive behaviours who may attract a diagnosis of EUPD / BPD / CPTSD.
Jemma is particularly passionate about helping people better understand their emotions, strengthen relationships, develop practical coping skills and move towards a life that feels more manageable and meaningful.
Jemma believes that therapy should feel human, accessible and relevant to everyday life. Her approach combines evidence-based DBT principles with warmth, honesty and a genuine understanding that meaningful change rarely happens in a straight line.
Outside of work you will usually find her at the beach mindfully participating with her black Lab jumping over and chasing the waves, Jemma likes to take a few moments to herself each day as the sun rises or sets to just be and breathe, while repeating her favourite metaphor that: we may not be able to stop life’s waves, but we can learn how to surf them. Jemma practices what she preaches!
Helen
Psychotherapist (DBT therapist)
Helen brings over 35 years’ experience as a Mental Health Nurse, working across a range of NHS roles, including with people experiencing complex emotional and relational difficulties.
She has a particular interest in working at relational depth, exploring how our early experiences, relationships and trauma can shape how we see ourselves, understand our emotions and experience our sense of worth and self-esteem.
Helen’s approach is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental. She believes therapy works best when it is a shared process, creating a space where you can feel genuinely heard and understood, while also offering curiosity, guidance and appropriate challenge when needed. Her many years of experience allow her to bring knowledge and perspective, while recognising that everyone’s story is unique.
Originally from Ireland, Helen brings a natural warmth and a good sense of humour to her work. She is a mother of four adult children and a proud grandmother. Outside of work, she regularly enjoys the company (and occasional chaos!) of her children’s dogs – a welcome reminder of the joy that animals bring to life.
Agata
Clinical Psychologist
Agata is a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with a knack for seeing the person behind the diagnosis. She is informed on a personal level of experience with ADHD and blends this with many years in the NHS working with complex emotional needs, bringing both heart and expertise to her work. Agata continues to work in a senior position in CAMHS within the NHS and she leads all CAMHS work here at Anchor & Align.
Her toolkit includes DBT, CBT, and good old-fashioned psychotherapy- used with compassion and a healthy dose of curiosity. When she’s not helping clients untangle their thoughts, she’s knee-deep in soil at her allotment or chasing down her 5k time.
