You don’t have to wait for your loved one to engage. Sometimes the person you’re worried about doesn’t want therapy, isn’t ready for it, or has become stuck within services because the NHS is able to be adaptable to their needs so may have been told they ‘arent engaging’.
That doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do. Family and parent work focuses on you – helping you understand what might be happening, learn practical DBT-informed skills and think differently about how you respond to difficult situations.
We can work together on the difficult grey areas: when to support, when to step back, how to respond to risk, how to set boundaries without escalating things, and how to look after yourself when someone you love is struggling.
The aim isn’t to give you a perfect script or suggest that everything rests on you. It’s about helping you feel less frightened, less stuck and more confident in how you respond. A strong emphasis is on supporting anxiety that naturally emerges and supporting loved ones to be thinking about short and long term ways to support their loved one as well.
THIS IS OFTEN A GOOD FIT IF
You find yourself caught between wanting to keep your loved one safe and knowing that stepping in too much can sometimes make things harder.
You’re exhausted by the uncertainty of knowing what to say, what to do and when to intervene - especially when your loved one is doing things that feel risky or frightening.
Your loved one isn’t currently engaging in therapy - but things at home are still difficult, with repeated crises, relationship breakdown or services that feel stuck because they won’t or can’t engage.
You want practical DBT skills to help you respond more effectively when emotions, conflict or crises run high at home.
Who you might work with
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a specific form of trauma therapy that can help the brain process experiences that still feel emotionally or physically ‘stuck’.
Graduate programme
We run a graduate programme every week, an opportunity to have that back up after an intensive piece of therapy has finished so to. Because finishing therapy doesn’t mean you stop being human.
Individual therapy
One-to-one work with a senior clinician, matched to you rather than to whoever has a gap. We agree the approach together on the first call and review it as we go.
Individual DBT Therapy
One-to-one work with a senior clinician, matched to you rather than to whoever has a gap. We agree the approach together on the first call and review it as we go.
Full DBT programme
The complete, adherent DBT model: weekly individual therapy, a skills group, between-session phone coaching and a consult team behind your therapist. Run in intakes so groups start together.
DBT-Informed Groups
Skills-only groups for people who want the practical tools - distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness - without the full commitment.
Trauma therapy, including EMDR
For single-incident trauma and for the longer, more tangled kind. Paced carefully, with stabilisation first - we won't rush you into processing before you're ready.
Neurodivergent-Informed Therapy
Every therapist here adapts as standard: sensory needs, processing time, written summaries, sessions can be recorded to be reviewed afterwards, walking sessions. You shouldn't have to mask to get therapy.
Family & parent work
Support for the people around someone who's struggling - including parents of teenagers, and DBT skills for families.
